The Northern Territory Geological Survey, underwritten by the Northern Territory Department of Business, Industry and Resource Development (DBIRD) is pleased to announce that planning is well in hand for the Central Australian Basins Symposium (CABS). 

The Symposium will focus on the petroleum and mineral potential of a number of central Australian basins, and will provide a forum for representatives from industry, government and academia.

State Geological Surveys, Geoscience Australia and university researchers have undertaken important project work and regional geological/geophysical surveys in central Australian basins over the last decade. However, for a number of reasons, the petroleum/minerals exploration effort in many of these basins has not been commensurate with their potential. A major aim of the symposium is to review recent progress in order to marry key petroleum and minerals exploration strategies for the benefit of both industries.
