Darwin City ViewThe Northern Territory Department of Business, Industry and Resource Development (DBIRD), Geoscience Australia (GA) and the Petroleum Exploration Society of Australia (PESA) invite you to the first ever symposium on the petroleum geology of the Timor Sea area; ie the Bonaparte Basin and surrounds.

The symposium will be held at the height of the dry season in Darwin at the Holiday Inn on the Esplanade (formerly the Carlton Hotel) on 19 and 20 of June 2003.

The symposium will provide a forum for representatives from industry, government and academia to present and discuss many aspects of petroleum geoscience and hydrocarbon potential.

Papers will be relevant to exploration and field development and appraisal, with an emphasis on regional overview.

Commitments from industry and government include papers in the following areas:

  • Jurassic-Early Cretaceous stratigraphy and reservoir/source distribution;
  • Petroleum systems and geochemistry;
  • New technologies, including remote sensing;
  • Subsidence and thermal history modelling;
  • Field development and appraisal case studies; and
  • Structure and tectonics.

We are delighted to offer a dynamic, relevant program of papers with accompanying keynote speakers and symposium dinner. The symposium will be held back-to-back with the South East Asia Australia Offshore Conference (SEAAOC) "The Asia Pacific Region & the Global Oil & Gas Market", to be held at the Holiday Inn, the Esplanade, Darwin on 16-18 June 2003.
